The event series of France 2 Bardot was presented to the spectators of Series Mania, who came to discover on the big screen the biopic centered on the former actress and French icon.

He is a figure who marked his time and all that was missing was a biopic to recount his youth and his crazy rise. It is now done thanks to France 2, and the pen of Danièle and Christopher Thompson. Soberly titled Bardot, the 6×52-minute series retraces her life, from her beginnings at age 15 in 1949 to the birth of her son in 1960. The beginnings of a young girl, brought up strictly, who dreams of becoming a dancer. Guided by her love for the director Roger Vadim and driven by her desire for freedom and emancipation, she will let herself be caught up in cinema…

The series was selected by the Series Mania Festival in the International Competition category and this French and Italian co-production has every chance. Impossible not to fall under the spell of Julia de Nunez. The young woman, who is making her debut in the industry, has an electric presence: with her sulky pout and her particular diction, she charms the characters as much as the spectators. Her casualness is well suited to the aura of Brigitte Bardot in the 50s and 60s: a young woman who does not allow herself to be constrained by the shackles of society, embracing life (and men) to the fullest.

The rest of the cast does not fail, like the solar Victor Belmondo (Vadim) and the promising Noham Edje, all in restraint, in the role of Jean-Louis Trintignant. If you are passionate about cinema, you will not be surprised to hear big names in the 7th art mentioned in the series.

The rather successful realization, the work on the costumes (and Brigitte’s hairstyle!) as well as the musical composition imagined by Arthur Simonini take us back in time. If you are not familiar with her story and even without being exhaustive, Bardot will allow you to have a global photograph of the character, her era and the way in which she influenced the whole world.
