In memory of her “Friends” colleague Matthew Perry, who died in 2023, Lisa Kudrow is watching the cult series again after a long time.

On October 28, 2023, Matthew Perry (1969-2023), one of the popular stars of the legendary US sitcom “Friends”, which thrilled millions of viewers between 1994 and 2004, died. The main actors, in addition to Perry, Jennifer Aniston (55), Courteney Cox (60), Matt LeBlanc (56), David Schwimmer (57) and Lisa Kudrow (60) were part of the cast, and their participation gave them a successful future career. In an interview with the “Hollywood Reporter,” Lisa Kudrow now reports how she remembers her deceased colleague and friend.

For years, Lisa Kudrow was too embarrassed to see herself in “Friends”

In recent years, she has not been able to watch the old episodes of the series again, “because it’s too embarrassing to watch yourself” – and she didn’t want to risk not liking her acting in the series. But if the focus of the viewing is on Perry, “then it’s fine.” After re-watching “Friends,” she realized how funny the series actually was. “Sometimes I even laugh at what I did in it,” says Kudrow. But it is embarrassing. If someone comes into the room at home and she is watching “Friends,” it is not a good look.

“It’s about celebrating how funny he was”

When she rewatches “Friends,” she says it’s all about reliving the old times with Perry. “It’s about celebrating how funny he was – and that’s how I want to remember him,” explains the actress. Behind the scenes, Perry was also a great entertainer who always followed the motto “How many laughs can I get every day in real life?” She looks back on their time together with sadness, but also with great joy: “We always laughed so much that tears flew from our faces.”
