Serious accident at work – a 17-year-old hit a 1000-kilo wooden beam on the leg

On Monday morning, on the premises of a company in Kaltenbach in the Tyrolean Zillertal, a young person injured his leg and ankle in an accident at work. He was taken to the hospital in Schwaz.

The 17-year-old worker helped his colleague, a 50-year-old local. This operated a forklift that was loaded with four wooden beams. When the boy tried to remove the plastic packaging from one of these wooden beams, the outermost of them began to move.

Injured leg and ankle
“The 17-year-old tried to hold the bar on the forklift, but he did not succeed,” said the police. The wooden beam, which weighed around a ton, fell from a height of about three feet onto the teenager’s left leg and ankle, seriously injuring him.

After the first aid on site, the worker was taken to the Schwaz district hospital with the ambulance. As the police announced, a report will be sent to the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office after the investigation is over.
