Serious accident in St. Andrä / Sausal: A car had come into the opposite lane, where it crashed head-on into an oncoming one. This car overturned and landed on the roof. Both drivers were injured.
The accident happened this evening in St. Andrä im Sausal (Leibnitz district), on Predingerstraße: At around 6 p.m., a 36-year-old drove his car on the L 303 from Gleinstätten in the direction of Preding. The Styrian came to the opposite lane for an unknown reason and crashed head-on into the car of an oncoming 51-year-old driver. The vehicle overturned due to the force of the impact and remained on the roof.
Both drivers involved in the accident were injured to an unspecified degree and were rescued by the volunteer fire brigade. The 36-year-old driver was taken to hospital with the Red Cross, the 51-year-old was brought in with the C 16 rescue helicopter.
Another vehicle was damaged by flying parts.
The volunteer fire brigades Pisdorf and St. Andrä im Sausal were in action with a total of 36 men and 6 vehicles.
The L 303 was closed to vehicle traffic for the duration of its use.
