Serious injuries – several skiing accidents in Tyrol on the 1st Sunday in Advent

The fantastic weather on the first Sunday in Advent in Tyrol made for well-frequented ski slopes. But not every ski trip went smoothly, an 81-year-old local in Kitzbühel was seriously injured, and a winter sports enthusiast was also seriously injured in Sölden.

On the ski slope in Kitzbühel there was a collision between an 81-year-old local and a 10-year-old child from Germany at around 10.50 a.m. on Sunday. The 81-year-old suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to the hospital in St. Johann in Tirol by emergency helicopter. The 10-year-old boy was unharmed. When passing with his skis, a 58-year-old touched a 45-year-old snowboarder. He then lost his balance and fell uncontrollably on his back. He was lucky and was unharmed. Not so the skier: After the collision, he headed for a piste edge marking, crashed into it and fell onto the icy piste. In doing so, he sustained serious injuries. He was rescued by the piste rescue service and brought to a practice in Sölden with the rescue service.
