Serious leg injury – German hiker fell 60 meters in Tyrol

A hiker (59) fell about 60 meters through an icy gully in Längenfeld. Due to the strong wind, however, it was not possible to rescue the seriously injured German from the dew. The rescue operation thus turned out to be difficult.

A German (59) hiked with his wife on Sunday from Gries to Längenfeld (Imst district) along a closed forest path. However, the icy path was his undoing at around 11:30 a.m.: He slipped at the “Madlen Rinne” and, according to the police, fell about 60 meters through an icy channel. His wife immediately set the rescue chain in motion. It was not possible to rescue the deaf It was not possible to rescue the severely injured man from the deaf because of the wind. He had to be rescued by the mountain rescue team using a rope. After first aid, he was taken to the clinic in Imst with a serious leg injury. In addition to the paramedics, twelve emergency services from the Längenfeld and Gries mountain rescue services were on duty.
