  • ServusTV Germany is discontinued.
  • However, the online service ServusTV on continues to exist.
  • In Austria there is a station of the same name.

ServusTV has now officially confirmed what has been hot in the rumor mill for weeks – the end for the linear TV station in Germany.

After more than 13 years of broadcasting, ServusTV Germany will be discontinued at the end of the year. Broadcasting started on September 1, 2010, but the broadcaster will not live to see 2024. Financial savings and lack of success are assumed to be the reasons. Despite massive investments in sports rights and a new news channel at the beginning of the year, the market share in Germany stagnated at less than one percent.

The money tap is turned off

Not enough for those responsible at Red Bull, who are behind the station. Because of the live sports broadcasts mentioned, the digital platform ServusTV On will be retained. You will be able to follow DTM, selected tennis tournaments and other sports via live stream in the future. In some cases, there are still long-term TV contracts in Germany that would otherwise expire, or even penalties for breach of contract would have to be feared.

The Austrian channel ServusTV, which is successful in contrast to Germany, will also continue to exist. Red Bull wants to focus on him in the future. In the Alpine country, it was also possible to establish itself as a major free TV broadcaster through, among other things, the Champions League and Formula 1 broadcasts.

So you can continue to receive ServusTV

If you want to continue watching the linear program of ServusTV beyond the turn of the year, you have to choose Austria as a location using VPN alternatives, for example. It should also be noted that a different program is broadcast there than in this country. However, since it is classified as more extensive, one can certainly speak of an upgrade.
