Want to set up your Ring security camera and don’t know how? In this guide, we explain how easy it is to set up the camera.
Surveillance cameras are becoming increasingly popular in smart homes. They’re easy to set up, easy to install with a battery, and now they’re affordable too. The most popular manufacturers include Blink and Ring. We tested the top-of-the-line outdoor camera model Ring Spotlight Cam Pro for you and also created instructions for setting it up.
Commissioning is not complicated, but involves many individual steps. So we’ll show you how to set up a Ring security camera with all the essential features from start to finish. We ourselves first switched on the camera and connected it to the WLAN. This was followed by assembly and setting up the remaining functions.
Tip: The best thing to do is download the Ring app free of charge from our download archive onto your mobile phone or tablet.
- Add Ring Camera to WiFi
- Share camera with other people
- Set up smart alerts
- Edit Motion Zones
- use bird’s eye view
- privacy settings
use bird’s eye view
The “bird’s eye view” function creates a movement profile for you for recognized people. If they move through the camera image, you can follow their path on a satellite view.
- 1
The ring camera can track the movement of people and store it on a satellite image. This gives you a bird’s eye view of your property and the paths the person has taken. To activate the function, click on “Set up function”.
- 2
Click on “Next” on the next page.
- 3
Now tap on “Next” again.
- 4
The camera angle is crucial for the bird’s eye view. Confirm that this is between 45 to 60 degrees by tapping Next.
- 5
The app shows you how to switch between map and satellite view. Tap on “Next”.
- 6
It’s a good idea to select the satellite view and mark the location of the camera. Once you’ve done that, tap “Next.”
- 7
You should now mark as precisely as possible where the camera is attached. Then tap on “Next”.
- 8th
Now you match the camera field of view with the satellite image so that the movements are accurately recorded. Once you have done that, confirm with “Next”.
- 9
The mounting height of the camera is also important for accuracy. Adjust this and tap on “Next”.
- 10
You have the option of dividing the bird’s-eye view area into up to three zones. To do this, tap on “Set up zones”.
- 11
If a zone is enough, tap on “Next”. Alternatively, you can create more using the “Add Zone” button.
- 12
You did it and can now start a test or skip it if you wish.
The entire setup of the Ring camera takes time due to the many steps involved. We recommend that you do this in peace and read the information pages with instructions for tips in full. If you then notice during operation that something is not working properly or the battery is empty very quickly, you can readjust at any time in the app settings.
