While his trial will open this Monday, June 27, the Sept à Huit teams have produced a report on Jean-Marc Reiser, suspected of the murder of Sophie Le Tan. While the journalists are with the suspect’s mother, the latter calls him.
He was arrested on September 15, 2018, eight months after the disappearance of Sophie Le Tan. Jean-Marc Reiser will see his trial for assassination open this Monday, June 27, 2022 in Strasbourg. On this occasion, the teams of Seven to Eight went to meet the mother of the imprisoned man. She then begins by giving news of her son: “Where he is he is doing well”. The journalist asks her if from time to time she goes to see him in prison. If she answers in the affirmative, she confides that he never talks about his trial. While talking with the journalist, her landline phone rings.
She explains to journalists that it is her son who is calling from prison. “No, I don’t need anything”, can we hear in Alsatian – the words have been translated into French by seven to eight -. Jean-Marc Reiser’s mother then asks him if he wants to talk to journalists. And his words are very clear : “Anyway, I don’t want to talk. I don’t want people to talk about me, I’m not interested. I’ve had enough shit as it is. And enough bullshit has been said on my account so it’s good”. At the question : “And how are you approaching this upcoming trial?”, the alleged murderer of Sophie Le Tan responds: “I’m not addressing it. Just play my mother back to me please.”
A vital trial for the family of Sophie Le Tan
A surreal sequence. Jean-Marc Reiser, alleged assassin of Sophie Le Tan will therefore see his trial open before the assizes of Bas-Rhin. In 2018, the latter confessed to the murder of the young woman whose dismembered corpse had been discovered by chance in the forest. “In any case, he will not tell us the truth” but “the facts are dramatically overwhelming”, explained Me Gérard Welzer, lawyer for the Le Tan family. This one “has been living this drama for four years in a catastrophic way and has a lot of trouble doing the work of mourning, given the atrocious circumstances of Sophie’s death”.
