Several dead in landslide in Northeast

(dpa) Landslides have killed at least 25 people in northeastern Brazil after heavy rain. A landslide in the Ibura district in the south of the port city of Recife alone claimed 20 lives, as reported by the television station Globo on Saturday. Three more people died in Camaragibe in the Recife area. Two men died north and west of Recife.

Heavy rainfall was recently recorded in the region. In the greater Recife area, more than 200 milliliters of rain fell within 24 hours, according to the government of the state of Pernambuco. A total of 30 people have died since the storm began.
