Several injuries – Halloween night escalated completely in Salzburg

Many people from Salzburg celebrated Halloween – it was far from peaceful everywhere. Hundreds of youngsters engaged in wild chases with the police in the old town. In Wals-Siezenheim, almost 20 men fought their way to hospital.

Eyewitnesses speak to the “Krone” the day after of tumultuous scenes. It was “to be feared” – and by no means do you mean creepy Halloween costumes. Hundreds of – mostly young – people roamed downtown Salzburg on Sunday night. They mobbed passers-by, set fire to pyrotechnics and are said to have thrown eggs on trolleybuses. The police were on duty with all available forces. Some youths chased the officers. The executive was there for several hours. There were always scuffles and fights. “It was much more busy than on other nights,” said the police. The police registered nine bodily injuries in downtown Salzburg alone.

In Schwarzstrasse, for example, four strangers attacked a Croat (26) at around 11 p.m. They beat the man, kicked him. He had to spend the rest of the night in the Salzburg accident hospital. Almost four hours later, a Kosovar (24) and a Moroccan (22) clashed. Both men were easily injured.

The Halloween celebrations in the night clubs in Wals-Siezenheim got completely out of hand. Two groups of ten party-goers each began to argue in a bar around midnight. The men from Austria, North Macedonia and Turkey quickly moved on to an underground car park. There they beat each other. The police had to move out. Several people between the ages of 18 and 26 were injured and had to be treated in hospital.

But that’s not all: At around 3 a.m., an Anifer (37) punched an opponent from Bergheim (20) in a Walser restaurant. Less than an hour later, two citizens beat up a 17-year-old near the Walser local mile. Both fled, but the police stopped the duo within a very short time.
