These tremors, whose magnitude did not exceed 2.5 on the Richter scale, have no connection with the much more violent earthquakes which took place between the south-east of Turkey and the north-west of Syria on Monday at dawn.

According to SismoAzur, the site of the Géoazur laboratory presenting real-time seismicity, no less than five small earthquakes were detected on the border between France and Italy in less than 24 hours, mainly in the Italian region of Piedmont.
One of the quakes, detected at 4:42 a.m. Wednesday night into Thursday, measured 2.5 on the Richter scale, or felt only by people at rest. Its epicenter was located near Alba, about 70 kilometers from the border as the crow flies. A few hours earlier, four other earthquakes, more or less of the same magnitude, were detected in the Mediterranean Sea, halfway between the coasts of mainland France and Corsica.

Note that these tremors have no connection with the much more violent earthquakes which took place between the south-east of Turkey and the north-west of Syria on Monday at dawn. By comparison, the latter reached a magnitude of 7.8, destroying thousands of buildings and killing some 19,000 people in the process, according to the latest report from local authorities.
