Apple TV+ has officially announced a second season of “Severance”. Now the streaming service has announced a whole bunch of new cast members, including a well-known “Game of Thrones” star.

Severance Season 2: Start Date

It has long been known that the plot of “Severance” would allow a sequel after season 1. Behind the scenes, it has probably been clear for a long time that a second season is to come, even if Apple TV + has certainly waited for the reaction of the audience at first.

After the confirmation of Season 2 in April 2022, the question arises as to how far the work on the upcoming episodes has progressed. At the San Diego Comic-Con, series creator Dan Erickson and producer Ben Stiller revealed that all preparations are already underway and filming for season 2 will begin soon.

On October 31st, Season 2 of “Severance” was finally filmed, as confirmed by Apple TV+ on Twitter.

Season 2 of “Severance” should start on Apple TV + in summer 2023 at the earliest. The date can be set more precisely as soon as there is more information from production.

Severance Season 2: Storyline

In Season 1 of “Severance,” Mark, Helly, and Irving’s innies made it out into the outside world, taking on Lumon and the Severance program. However, various mysteries remain unsolved and the storyline will hardly end until every Kier mystery is solved and Lumon’s handiwork is put to rest.

Since the shooting of “Severance” season 2 hasn’t started yet, there isn’t a real trailer yet. However, Apple TV+ released a short video announcing Season 2.

Severance Season 2: Cast and Production

Season 2 of “Severance” is expected to see most of the cast return from Season 1. They include Adam Scott as Mark, Britt Lower as Helly, Zach Cherry as Dylan, John Turturro as Irving, Patricia Arquette as Harmony Cobel and Christopher Walken as Burt.

Brand new, Apple TV+ has now confirmed a whole bunch of new cast members – eight to be exact. There are some familiar faces among the newcomers. Among other things, Gwendoline Christie, known from “Game of Thrones”, will take on an as yet unknown role in Season 2.

Also, we can count on the participation of actors and actresses Alia Shawkat (“Search Party”), John Noble (“Fringe”), and Merritt Wever (“Nurse Jackie”), Bob Balaban (“The Chair”), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (“The Tourist”), Robby Benson (“Beauty and the Beast”) and Stefano Carannante (“Mirabilia”) are happy. It is not yet clear which roles the actors will play.

Ben Stiller, who directed some episodes in Season 1, plans to direct all episodes himself in Season 2.
