Since Tuesday morning, intensive work has been going on in the Völkermarkt district to repair the damage caused by the storm the previous evening. The areas of St. Marxen, St. Kanzian, Peratschitzen and Eberndorf were particularly hard hit. “I’ve been going to the church in St. Marxen for years. It’s unbelievable what happened here,” says Roland, a shocked vacationer from Germany. Since many roads are still blocked, a helicopter reconnaissance flight was undertaken to better assess the true extent of the storm.
