You can do it yourself Fabric in your favorite color or buy in favorite pattern or you use scraps of fabric. Whether you make both sides in one color or pattern or one side plain and the other with a pattern is entirely up to your taste. In a short sewing guide, we will show you how easy and quick it is. Sewing potholders: materials

For these simple pot holders you will need:

  • cotton fabric
  • Optional: second cotton fabric in a different color for the loop
  • sewing thread
  • Flame retardant batting
  • pins or staples
  • ruler or tape measure

Sew pot holders without bias binding: step by step

  1. Cut two squares (e.g. 20×20 cm) from your fabric.
  2. From the fleece you also cut two squares the same size as the cotton fabric.
  3. For the loop you need a strip of fabric (e.g. 15×4 cm), which you can cut out of the same or a different colored fabric.
  4. Fold the strip lengthways in the middle, pin the long side and topstitch it with a straight stitch.
  5. Now lay the batting on top of one another and one of the cotton squares over it with the wrong side facing down.
  6. Then place the second cotton square on top with the right side down – both cotton pieces are now right sides together.
  7. Now place your loop, e.g. B. in the middle or in a corner so you can hem them in while sewing. Lay them out with a loop sticking out.
  8. Once you have checked that all the layers of fabric are correctly aligned, pin them all around.
  9. If necessary, mark a small spot (approx. 4 cm) that you leave open for turning.
  10. So now stitch almost all the way around, leaving out the turning opening!
  11. Put the pot holder through this opening and then close it with the mattress stitch or topstitch all around again.

And the best: These potholders can be varied as desired, e.g. B. Sew in other shapes, e.g. circular or heart-shaped. Instead of cotton fabric you can also denim use. Here we show you how to sew cute fox potholders!
