Investigation against Trump confidante Gaetz

The US judiciary has been investigating Republican Matt Gaetz for some time. Ex-President Trump’s confidante reportedly had a relationship with a minor. Now the House of Representatives is also launching an investigation into the MP.

The US House of Representatives has launched an investigation into sex and drug allegations against controversial Republican MP Matt Gaetz. The Ethics Committee of the Congress Chamber announced the investigation into the confidante of ex-President Donald Trump for possible violations of “against rules of the House of Representatives, laws or other standards of conduct” on Friday.

There are “public allegations” that the 38-year-old may have been guilty of “sexual misconduct and / or illegal drug use”, shown “inappropriate pictures or videos” in parliament, used campaign resources for personal purposes and bribery, inappropriate gifts or not accepted allowed gifts.

The “New York Times” revealed last weeks a judicial investigation against the right-wing populist MP from the state of Florida. In the room there is, among other things, the allegation of a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old. According to media reports, the Trump supporter, who is known for his sharp rhetoric and polemical appearances, is also said to have shown other MPs nude photos of women and bragged about sexual adventures.

The judicial investigation against Gaetz began during Trump’s tenure. The allegations are related to an investigation into an acquaintance of the Florida MP who is charged with sex trafficking in minors. According to media reports, the man may have referred women to Gaetz.

Gaetz, who has not yet been formally accused, has decidedly rejected the allegations. Last week he caused a stir with the declaration that he and his father had been extorted for 25 million dollars, a good 21 million euros, in connection with the allegations.
