A 54-year-old Swiss sought contact with underage girls on the Internet in order to act out his sexual fantasies. The public prosecutor’s office for the canton of St. Gallen is requesting a four-year prison sentence.

The public prosecutor of the canton of St. Gallen has completed the investigation against the 54-year-old former municipality clerk of Steinach.
He is charged, among other things, with multiple pornography, multiple sexual acts with a child and attempted human trafficking.

The accused is the ex-parish clerk of Steinach, as Beatrice Giger from the St. Gallen public prosecutor confirmed on request. He is accused of having had contact with around 20 underage girls on the Internet for almost two years from the spring of 2017. Furthermore, he is accused of repeatedly tempting chat partners under the age of 16 to engage in sexual acts on themselves. He is also said to have been in contact with an organization on the Internet with the intention of “renting” a nine-year-old girl for a few hours for the purpose of sexual exploitation. As in the other cases, there was no personal or physical contact between the accused and the child.
The man was arrested by the St. Gallen canton police on November 13, 2019, after the public prosecutor received information from the Austrian authorities and initiated independent criminal proceedings. Several data carriers such as laptops, tablets and smartphones were confiscated. He was in pre-trial detention for 52 days before the compulsory measures court upheld the accused’s request for release from prison, contrary to the prosecution’s request, and released him under the orders of alternative measures.
Four years imprisonment and prohibition of activity
The extensive criminal investigation has now been completed. The public prosecutor’s office charges the accused at the St. Gallen District Court with multiple pornography, multiple attempted pornography, multiple sexual acts with a child, attempted human trafficking and attempted incitement to human trafficking. She applies for a four-year prison sentence, taking into account pre-trial detention, a fine of 90 daily rates of 100 francs and a lifelong ban on activities that involve regular contact with minors.
