The near-E3 2022 kicked off with the Summer Game Fest opening ceremony and a much better show was expected.
Geoff Keighley, the host of the Video Game Oscars, did well to ask us to temper our expectations of the Summer Game Fest ceremony. This was not a false warning: the conference, broadcast on Thursday, June 9 at a time acceptable for Europe, did not have enough content to make anyone jump from their seat – despite a duration of almost two hours.
The State of Play, shared in early June, was much more convincing than this Summer Game Fest 2022 – while Sony’s presentation lasted only 30 minutes. Fortunately there was The Last of Us Part I…but he was leaked a few hours earlier. Last year we had Elden Ring.
From then on, there were more weak moments than strong moments. We recap.

The Summer Game Fest sometimes looked like a disguised party with an imposed theme: SF, for science fiction (and not street fighter 6), with a bit of horror if possible. Of Aliens: Dark Descent at Fort Solis Passing by The Callisto Protocol, Routine and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, the futuristic universes were numerous. And they will be delighted to learn that there will be a sequel, called… Goat Simulator 3 (as for Brice de Nice, number 2 has disappeared). The first trailer foreshadows great nonsense and, for the record, parodies the impressive trailer of Dead Island 2 – game that is still not available despite being made official in 2014. Many have also believed in a return.

On June 30, we will be able to cry tears of joy and blood again when we discover The Delicious Last Coursethe extension of Cuphead (a game/cartoon that hides a colossal challenge). Geoff Keighley must have laughed out loud when he discovered the leak of The Last of Us Part I, knowing that several insistent rumors had already spoiled the surprise. He had put the dishes in the big ones to close his conference, by inviting Neil Druckmann. The co-president of Naughty Dog came to talk about the series (with an unreleased image) and the remake. But the impact would have been even greater if no one had known about it.
