The operator SFR announced on Tuesday the launch of a self-monitoring offer called “Secure Home”. Powered in partnership with Europ Assistance, it will cost less for the operator’s box subscribers.
Only two weeks after the presentation of the Free and Qiara connected security offer, the other red-tinted operator, SFR, unveiled its Secure Home proposal on Tuesday April 9, 2024. This is a fairly complete Wi-Fi self-monitoring offer, with 4G support in the event of loss of connection, equipped with a central unit and a series of equipment, which should make it possible to secure the home. The operator has formed a partnership with Europ Assistance, the French company known for specializing in the safety of travelers and the elderly. Let’s see what the offer actually promises us.
What the SFR Secure Home offer contains
The Secure Home offer includes a Video Alert Pack whose heart is none other than the Wi-Fi central unit. The latter is equipped with a battery and an integrated 4G relay, very practical in the event of your connection being cut fixed internet. It can also last around ten hours on battery. It’s still much less than at Qiara (Free), where the siren’s batteries can last 2 to 3 years.
A Full HD Wi-Fi camera with 90° wide angle is responsible for capturing surveillance images, with a motion detection system and night vision. Let’s also add the motion detector (to be fixed to the ceiling and to a wall) and two door or window opening detectors.
Other accessories, including the smoke detector (35 euros), the siren (39 euros), remote controls (19 euros per model) or a keyboard and badges to deactivate the alarm (49 euros), are available at the sale.
How does the SFR Secure Home offer work?
To connect all of this, there is the Wi-Fi network, and a 4G SIM card is integrated into the central unit. The chip connects to the mobile network at the slightest disconnection from the central Wi-Fi or the home internet box. You can control the system and monitoring using the SFR Maison application.
What the camera films, the customer can view at any time, live, with recording that can be triggered manually or automatically for motion detection. The video stream is stored and viewable over a rolling period of 30 days.
As with Free and Qiara, SFR’s Secure Home offer does not require the physical intervention of a technician. The installation of equipment can in fact be carried out completely independently. Failing this, a technician from Europ Assistance and/or dedicated SFR customer service promise to guide users. Europ Assistance also provides support in the event of a suspected intrusion or with a simple call, by mobilizing an agent on site.
What the SFR Secure Home offer costs
The basic Video Alert Pack costs 121 euros to purchase if you pay in one go. It is possible to pay in 24 installments, 1 euro upon subscription then 5 euros per month for two years for SFR customers.
The pack contains the basic equipment that we talked about at the beginning, and it is possible to complete it with other accessories, the price of which you now know. But if you want to inflate the basic pack, you will have to checkout. Any additional Wi-Fi camera costs 39 euros. For the opening detector, count 19 euros, but also 35 euros for the smoke detector, and 25 euros for the motion detector.
As for the subscription, please note that the Secure Home offer costs 14.99 euros/month, without commitment. SFR box customers are luckier, with an offer of 9.99 euros/month, still without commitment.
