PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Societe Generale announced on Tuesday the appointment of Marie-Christine Ducholet as director of its “new retail bank in France”, resulting from the combination of the Crédit du Nord and Societe Generale banking networks.

Aurore Gaspar Colson and Yann de Nanteuil are appointed to the positions of deputy directors. These appointments will be effective on January 1, 2023, Societe Generale said in a press release.

Joining Société Générale in 1985, Marie-Christine Ducholet worked in Corporate and Investment Banking before joining retail banking in France, where she was appointed Chief Executive Officer in June 2019. She will report to to Sébastien Proto, Deputy Managing Director in charge of the Societe Generale, Crédit du Nord and Private Banking networks and their Innovation, Technology and IT departments.

Announced at the end of 2020, the merger of the Societe Generale and Crédit du Nord networks should allow Banque de la Défense to save 450 million euros per year from 2025, thanks in particular to an overhaul of computer networks and a reduction of 30 % of the number of branches.
