So far, the negotiations of the traffic light coalition remain under lock and key. In contrast to previous negotiations, hardly any information leaks out. But then reports come that the parties have agreed to procure armed drones – and cause trouble for the Green politician Omid Nouripour.

The Greens politician Omid Nouripour has shown upset about the passing on of information from the confidential traffic light coalition negotiations to the media. “The fact that individuals believe that they can suck up honey in party politics with half-truths is shabby and does not do justice to the good work of the last few weeks,” wrote the member of the Bundestag, who heads the working group on foreign and defense policy for his party, on Twitter. “All previous reports about our agreements in the international work area are simply wrong.”

The “Spiegel” had previously reported that the working group had agreed to procure armed drones for the Bundeswehr. The magazine quotes from a “largely agreed paper” by the working group that was available to him. “Armed drones can help protect soldiers deployed abroad. Subject to binding and transparent conditions and taking into account ethical and security-political aspects, we will therefore enable the armed forces of the Bundeswehr to arm drones in this legislative period,” it said. Nouripour described the paper, from which the “Spiegel” quotes, as “out of date” in response to a Twitter request.

On Wednesday, the 22 working groups set up by the SPD, Greens and FDP had completed their work on the individual specialist topics. The results are kept under lock and key. The still open questions are now to be clarified from Monday in the central negotiating round under the leadership of the party chairman. According to the plans of the traffic light parties, the new federal government is to be sworn in during the St. Nicholas week from December 6th.
