Shadow Hearts: The trademark has been registered again in Japan

Returns of old licenses are all the rage right now. Publishers no longer hesitate to dig into their catalog dating from a few years ago to find licenses likely to strike a nostalgic chord with some, such as Square Enix and its Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition. Now it’s the turn of the series Shadow Hearts to talk about her again, with a listing that will raise some eyebrows.

The return of the series via the PS Plus?

Gematsu spotted that Universal Entertainment, which owns the licensing rights, has re-registered the trademark Shadow Hearts in Japan on April 27, before it goes public on May 11. It is still unclear why, but this kind of trademark filing is rarely innocent in the industry.

However, in March 2021, Gematsu says it contacted Universal to find out if a remake was possible or a sequel. Universal said at the time that no such plan was planned.. It could therefore be that this could have something to do with the new PS Plus, which will offer more PS2 games in its library. We could therefore very soon find the three opuses in the series in the program, unless this trademark registration indicates something more ambitious, but let’s avoid getting carried away.
