History complicated than that of Shadow. Now placed under the aegis of OVH Cloud, the company specializing in cloud computing allows itself to project itself. It announces today a new range of services and details the prices and configurations it offers.
Shadow invited the press this afternoon to a conference that is nothing less than a new launch of its cloud gaming offer.
A simplified but more muscular offer
The first thing to remember is that Shadow’s current offering isn’t changing. For 29.99 euros per month, you will have access to a PC in the cloud, equipped with Windows 10 and which has a sufficiently muscular configuration for all uses, including for gaming in Full HD.
As a reminder, we are talking about a configuration based on GTX 1080, a 4-core processor, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of SSD storage.
The novelty is that a new “Power Upgrade” subscription will be added as an option to this unique offer. For an additional 14.99 euros (a total of 44.98 euros), we can access a much more powerful machine, equipped as follows:
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX A4500 (RTX 3070 equivalent) or AMD Radeon Pro V620 (RDNA 2), depending on data center location;
- CPU: AMD EPYC 7543P (4 cores and 8 threads);
- RAM: 16 GB.
Storage remains capped at 256GB, but can be increased up to 2TB for an additional fee.
Shadow Drive will offer 20 GB of free storage
In addition to the “Power Upgrade”, the company announces Shadow Drive. As its name suggests, it will be a cloud storage space similar to what Google Drive or pCloud can offer.
The major difference, says Shadow, is that its drive is designed in partnership with Nextcloud, the leader in open-source cloud storage services. This service is popular with people wishing to preserve their personal data, which makes it an asset that Shadow Drive obviously intends to highlight in its communication.
The service will be launched next fall, together with applications that will allow access to its files from anywhere. 20 GB of storage will be offered to everyone, and the paid offer (8.99 euros per month) grants access to 2 TB.
To support its growth, Shadow is also strengthening its offer for professionals. It is in particular its infrastructure that allowed us to test Elden Ring remotely for several hours for our preview in early February.
