US actress Shailene Woodley talks about the fact that she has had to fight a serious illness for years.

US actress Shailene Woodley (29) became a star in Hollywood, among other things through her role in the “Divergent” series and in “Das Schicksal ist ein Louser Trater”. Now she talks more about the fact that she has been struggling with a serious illness for many years.

For a long time the disease, which she does not name more precisely, was downright “paralyzing”, as Woodley tells in an interview with the industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter”. Not because she wanted to, but because she was physically unable to do so, she refused to work on many projects. The fact that she did not want to be helped at first made matters worse. She “definitely suffered a lot more than I had to because I wasn’t taking care of myself”.

She felt “isolated and alone”

She now feels better and has largely overcome the disease. For a while, however, Woodley felt very “isolated and alone” because so many people focused on what she said, what she did, and how she presented herself. For many it is difficult to understand a “quiet, quiet and invisible pain” – in contrast to a broken arm or leg, which can be seen.

Therefore, the actress has also learned “not to give anything to what people think of you very quickly”. The more she paid attention to the “noise” around her at the time, the longer it took “for my body and mind to heal” because she was not focused on herself.

Woodley already had 2020 betrayed in an interview with the “New York Times”that she got “very, very sick” in her early 20s. Among other things, while working on the “Divergent” films, she struggled with a “deeply personal, very frightening” situation regarding her health.
