At yesterday's 54th edition on Sunday (February 2), a star in general and a part of the body of the star in particular caused a stir. The Colombian singer Shakira (43) gave a so-called ululation (from the Latin ululare = howl) during her performance. The vowel technique, also called zaghruta in Arab countries, is an expression of joy and is generated by a rapid movement of the tongue.
Many were pleased that Shakira did this with almost a billion spectators during the big event: "Shakira represents us Arabs at the 54th Super Bowl. It demonstrates the traditional way in which Arabs express their happiness and joy", writes a user on Twitter.
