After splitting up with Gerard Piqué, Shakira reportedly wants to leave Barcelona and start a new life in Miami.

Shakira, 45, has had to go through a lot in the past few months: After the rumor mill was already bubbling, the singer and Gerard Piqué, 35, confirmed in early June that they had separated after more than ten years of relationship. The reason for the love is said to have been the infidelity of the FC Barcelona kicker. But that’s not all, the native Colombian is also accused by Spanish authorities of tax evasion worth around 14.5 million euros. You have to answer in court, you could even face a prison sentence of several years.

So it’s no wonder that Shakira longs for a change of scenery. As “Page Six” now wants to know, this is imminent: the musician wants to move to mommy.

Is Shakira planning a move to Miami?

The fact that Shakira ended up in Miami, Florida, was anything but a coincidence. After all, she already owns a gorgeous villa on the beach there. In addition, a large part of her family lives in the US city. For the “Hips Don’t Lie” interpreter, the metropolis on the east coast is “a place of refuge”, as Ana Lourdes Martinez, an acquaintance of the pop star, now reveals to “Page Six”.

“Miami is her home,” Martinez said. “Her parents live here, her brother lives here, her niece and nephew too. She has no family in Spain. It’s a different environment than in Barcelona.” Especially since the Spanish city is now only a place full of painful memories for the 45-year-old.

She needs her family

However, Gerard Piqué is said to be not very enthusiastic about his ex-partner’s emigration plans, because Shakira naturally wants to take their sons Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7, with them. As a result, a custody battle is said to have started. Her children would love to spend time with the singer’s family just as much as she does. “The kids enjoy being here and being with their grandparents,” Martinez continues.

“Shakira is a very family-oriented person,” it continues. “She doesn’t go to a party with a group of friends. No, they gather at her home for cookouts and family activities. It’s a house built for entertaining.” But not only Shakira could use the support of her relatives in these difficult times. The “Waka Waka” hitmaker also wants to be close to her parents because she’s worried about her father, William.

This was taken to the hospital in early June after a “heavy fall”. After the incident, she took care of him and helped him with “cognitive stimulation after the traumatic accident”.
