Singer Shania Twain has revealed that she was seriously ill with pneumonia caused by Covid-19 during the corona pandemic. It was also a bad time for her husband.

Shania Twain, 57, lives on the shore of Lake Geneva with her second husband, the Swiss Frédéric Thiébaud, 53. But the idyllic world of the successful Canadian singer is shaken during the corona pandemic: the musician falls seriously ill with pneumonia caused by Covid-19 .

Shania Twain couldn’t breathe

Twain has now revealed to the “Mirror” how bad it was for her. She says she even had trouble breathing. “It just kept getting worse. My vital signs were deteriorating and I ended up having to be evacuated by air,” said the country pop singer. Despite her condition, she vividly remembered the helicopter flight to the hospital. “It was like science fiction,” she says. “I felt like I was going to another planet or something. It was all happening in slow motion.”

“It was a nightmare for him”

Her greatest support during this time was her husband Frédéric Thiébaud, to whom she has been happily married since 2011. The 53-year-old did not leave her side. He was beside himself with worry and had to organize both the helicopter flight and a hospital bed. The latter turned out to be difficult because the hospitals were at their limit at the time. “To be honest, my husband freaked out,” Twain admits. “He really panicked because he was the one who had to somehow hold it all together. Every day he spent hours on the phone trying to coordinate an air evacuation and get a hospital bed because there wasn’t one. And he checked my vitals. It was a nightmare for him.”

She is very grateful to her husband

When she finally got a bed in the hospital, the “That Don’t Impress Me Much” interpreter was isolated and treated with plasma therapy. “It took several days to even build up antibodies,” says Shania Twain. “It was a very dangerous time and very scary.” But she did it and is very grateful for it. Her greatest thanks go to her husband, who was with her during this difficult time.
