Shannen Doherty: This is how she feels after her new cancer diagnosis

Shannen Doherty is combative despite being diagnosed again with breast cancer. Nevertheless, she wants to write farewell videos and letters soon.

The former "Beverly Hills, 90210" actress Shannen Doherty (49) is fighting against an advanced stage of breast cancer. After the actress had already beaten cancer once, it returned, as Doherty announced in February 2020. Metastases had formed in the spine. The disease will most likely spread to Doherty's brain, lungs, liver, or a combination thereof. How much time you have is unclear. In an interview with "Elle" magazine, she spoke about the diagnosis, which still keeps her fighting.

She feels very, very healthy, and in that state, Doherty says, it feels hard to sort out your end when you feel like you're going to live another ten or fifteen years. "It's like retiring someone with stage four cancer. But I'm not ready for it. I still have a lot of life in me." Doherty remains busy developing a number of projects, including a new TV show, and looking for ways she can use her name to advocate for other breast cancer patients.

Doherty: "It feels final then"

However, Doherty cannot refuse to face her possible death. She has already thought about which people should receive their possessions. She will also write farewell letters. "There are things I would like to say to my mother. I want my husband (Kurt Iswarienko, editor's note) to know what he meant to me." She had also thought of farewell videos, but hadn't had the heart to shoot them until now. "It then feels final. It feels like breaking up, but I'm not breaking up."

Shannen Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2015. Two years and many strenuous treatments later, she gave the all-clear. At the beginning of February 2020, however, the US star made public that the cancer had returned.
