Share files via WhatsApp: Messenger is planning a small but practical innovation

WHATSAPP

WhatsApp is no longer just used to exchange messages, but also all kinds of documents. Now the messenger is planning a small but practical change for this.

Meta is constantly working to improve WhatsApp. A small but practical change regarding the sharing of files is currently being tested: So far it is only possible to post pictures, videos and GIFs together with a comment in the chat. Documents, on the other hand, only appear with their file names in the chat. That should change now.

As WABetaInfo reports, in the current WhatsApp beta for Android phones it is now also possible to add a comment to documents before sharing them. This should not only improve the overview in the chat itself, but also make it easier to find shared files later using the search.

It remains to be seen when the function will be introduced in WhatsApp. The feature was first seen in July in the beta of the web version of the messenger. So WhatsApp seems to have been working on it for a long time. We therefore assume that the change will be implemented in Messenger by the end of the year.

Recently, WhatsApp had already increased the size limit for sharing files. Instead of 100 megabytes, these can now be 2 gigabytes in size.
