Who is the better actress? Sharon Stone criticizes Meryl Streep for being overrated.
Queen of Hollywood: Many would like to be. If you go by which actress has received the most awards in the course of her career, this title clearly belongs to Meryl Streep, 72. With 21 Oscar nominations and three golden boys as best leading actress, she is in a league of her own.
Sharon Stone: She doesn’t think much of Meryl Streep
A current Arte documentation (currently available in the media library) even describes Streep as “The Undisguised Goddess”. But now there is suddenly a prominent dissenting voice. “Viola Davis is just as good an actress as Meryl Streep,” says Sharon Stone, 63, in an interview with Zoomer magazine. “Or Emma Thompson. Judy Davis. Olivia Colman. Kate Winslet, damn it! But as soon as you say Meryl Streep, they all throw themselves to the floor.”

On top of that. Sharon Stone, who turned the heads of many men around the world 30 years ago in “Basic Instinct”, is of the opinion that she herself can definitely play villains “much better” than Meryl. “She wouldn’t have been good at Basic Instinct or Casino. I was better. I know that, and she knows that.”
Is she jealous?
Is that where envy speaks? After all, unlike Meryl Streep, Sharon Stone has never been a favorite of the critics. And she has only one Oscar nomination to show, namely 1996 for “Casino”. With her clear words she wants to primarily criticize the misogynistic system in Hollywood, she assures. “Meryl is an absolutely wonderful woman and actress.” What is wrong, however, is the unspoken doctrine that there can only be one number one. What does Meryl Streep think about it? She is silent. Totally royal.
