she denounces the school harassment experienced by her 13-year-old daughter

A mother, Rebecca Maachi, appealed for help on Linkedin to call on the government to act urgently against school bullying. Her 13-year-old daughter was a victim, she tried to end her life and despite this, no action from the college or the rectorate was taken. We were able to interview the teenager’s mother.

It is on LinkedIn that Rebecca Maachi, the mother of Faustina, 13 years, decided to speak. A few days ago she launched a call for help to the professional network community so that her daughter’s story will be heard and never repeated. For almost 5 months, her daughter, in fourth grade, was victim of very violent school bullying in a college in Hauts-de-Seine, which took the form ofdaily insults. Little anonymous notes were left in his bag, on his chair in class, in his coat. Rebecca wasn’t told right away, it was only when the words took a more dramatic turn – “die”, “don’t miss next time” – that the CPE informed him, she told us. The harassment that Faustine suffered made her psychologically destroyedso much so that the young teenage girl attempted suicide three timeswithin their own school.

In her message, which has generated many shares and words of support, the mother of the family intends to make things happen and challenge the government. Here it is :
“Dear network, I need your help in the face of a dramatic situation that we have been experiencing with my daughter for several months. The subject concerns school bullying but also more broadly the care of adolescents in distress. Suicidal gestures have increased alarmingly in 2022 among minors and exponentially since the Covid. A situation which is all the more worrying as the supply of care is completely saturated. Throughout France, health professionals are helpless as are the victims. and us, parents. The government must react and be aware of the reality on the ground and that clear answers are provided.

School bullying is a subject mentioned as a ‘priority’ by the government, but beyond the effects of communication on the toll-free numbers put in place, there is a terrible vacuum in which victims and families are helpless and left behind in terms of concerns medical and psychological care.

His daughter is harassed but neither the college nor the rectorate reacted

“Brilliant student, joyful, invested as a delegate of her college and her class, invested in the youth council of her city, Faustine has unfortunately been the target of the jealousy and malevolence of several students in her class. The rectorate , the academic inspectorate have obviously been seized. The college has not implemented any general awareness-raising action and is trying to cover up the affair on the pretext that an investigation is underway”continues Rebecca in her message.

Questioned by us, Rebecca Maachi also revealed to us that there was in this case malfunctions at all levelsboth the school, the teachers and the authorities. “I am about to file a complaint against my daughter’s college, I did not intend to do so, but this is the next step since the rectorate and the academic inspectorate, they have certainly heard us, but that said their action is to do nothing!”.

However, the situation was more than worrying. One day in progress, Faustine even had to take a show of hands in front of her to find out who liked her in the class. The teacher did not react, and it was the students who had to go see the CPE themselves to tell them what was happening.

Changing school and city, the double penalty for victims of school bullying

Today, Faustine is not well. “Out of pediatric intensive care at Robert Debre, she is currently in a child psychiatry service awaiting a place for hospitalization in a clinic / specialized service. We are told that all the establishments are saturated and waiting times of 6 to 8 The ARS has been informed of this situation.
We are talking about a 13-year-old child who suffered violent school harassment in a public establishment. The school of the republic did not protect him. Politicians must get involved and create dedicated support channels for victims of harassment. We can’t leave our children in this situation.”
concludes the mother on LinkedIn.

The teenager is now waiting in a medical unit which accommodates all kinds of pathologies (depression, schizophrenia etc). “It’s a very traumatic environment, and above all it is not suitable for my daughter who is a victim of trauma and not sick. Now she is afraid, she is afraid of the world around her, she is afraid that it could start again, she lost confidence in the adult too since the college was not there for her. The double jeopardy also for this young girl, who is just beginning her life, is having to change schools and even citiesso that she no longer meets the students who put her through a real hell.

His mother, Rebecca, intends to go to the end so that justice is done, but also so that school bullying does not claim any more victims.
