“She did not want to be found”, her potential accomplices actively sought

Lucie, 16, was found alive in an apartment. His disappearance being ultimately voluntary, investigators are actively looking for his possible accomplices.

After two weeks of worry, the parents of Lucie Cavaré, 16, were relieved to learn that their daughter was finally safe. This Sunday, February 18, the teenager was actually found alive and in good health in the Ligny-en-Barrois area, located about twenty kilometers from Vavaincourt, the town where she was last seen before disappearing, on Sunday February 4.

As explained by the public prosecutor of Bar-le-Duc, Sofian Saboulard, Lucie was “in an apartment already targeted as part of the preliminary investigation”. She was discovered hidden in the storage chest of a sofa bed “during a home visit with a dog specialized in detecting human life. The dog detected his heat”added the prosecutor.

There is therefore no longer any doubt today: it is indeed a voluntary disappearance. “She did everything not to be found”, said Sofian Saboulard. Investigators also believe that the young girl, who had no money with her when she disappeared, certainly received help during her runaway. “She undoubtedly benefited from complicity despite all the research undertaken”revealed the prosecutor.

Accommodation, in particular, raises questions. Lucie would have spent several days there before being found there. Among the potential accomplices, the gendarmes are therefore interested in the owner(s) or occupant(s) of the apartment. Who are they ? Were they aware of the teenager’s presence at the scene? Why would they help her? Currently unidentified, these people are actively sought. If their complicity is proven, they will face legal action.

We do not yet know what could have pushed Lucie to voluntarily disappear. We know, however, that this was not his first runaway. “During January 2024, she was found at a friend’s house after running away during which she took care to turn off her cell phone”, specifies the press release from the prosecution. The teenager was interviewed by the gendarmes this Sunday, early in the evening. In total, around thirty hearings and around ten housing visits were carried out.
