She dies at 23 on her very first outing post-pregnancy because of two unscrupulous men

Rebecca Tollan had her life ahead of her. At just 23 years old, the young woman became a mother for the first time in the summer of 2019 of a little boy who filled her with happiness. But her life changed in the evening from July 14 to 15, 2019. At the time, Rebecca Tollan decided to leave her baby with her loved ones to go and enjoy an evening with friends. With her cousin, she went drinking in an outdoor bar at the Railway Tavern in Glasgow. It was then that two men seated nearby offered them two glasses. To thank them, Rebecca and Pamela decided to settle down with them. The young mother would then have asked the men if they had “Something”.

“I knew exactly what she meant…ask if they had any cocaine”, remembered his cousin during the trial. The two men therefore gave a small sachet of drugs to Rebecca, who went to the bar’s toilets to snort. All then all went to a house in the Bellshill area. Pamela remembered seeing four lines of cocaine on a black plate. “Becky did what she wanted. No matter what you told her, she wouldn’t listen, assured his cousin. I told him, ‘You don’t need it…you’re having a good time.’ I told him to stop.” But as they were about to take a taxi home, Rebecca started shaking uncontrollably.

Both men are charged with manslaughter.

When they arrived, the emergency services could only confirm the death of this young mother. Subsequently, the two men present during this tragic evening were arrested. For the past few days, Barry McAuley, 40, and Martin Stewart, 34, have been on trial for intentional homicide since Rebecca would have died of an overdose. The duo would have him “recklessly and illegally” given class A drug “potentially deadly” on July 14 and 15, 2019. The indictment states that Rebecca died after having “ingested” Drugs. Both defendants deny the charges in Glasgow High Court.
