She falls off her bike and is found frozen in a cemetery 17 hours later

On October 27, 2018, Jacqueline Parsons, 56, froze to death in a cemetery after falling from a bicycle. The police stopped the search after 10 minutes.

The story is hardly believable. On October 28, 2018, Jacqueline Parsons, 56, was found frozen to death in a cemetery after falling off her bicycle 17 hours earlier. The day before, the 50-year-old was crossing the cemetery in Hull, East Yorkshire, when she fell from her bicycle. The injured ankle, unable to continue on her way, Jacqueline asked for help from a passerby, who hastened to call for help. So far, nothing out of the ordinary, except things haven’t turned out the way they should have…

For some abstract reason, the passerby’s cry for help was not registered as urgent. The police therefore only left to look for Jacqueline two hours after her accident, and only conducted a search of about 10 minutes on the spot, without even getting out of their car. Not finding it, they imagined that the victim had returned by his own means. Yet Jacqueline was still in the cemetery. The next morning, a man walking his dog found her frozen to death next to her bike…

“I’m heartbroken when I think they left her there alone”

Outraged Jacqueline’s family have filed a complaint against Humberside Policewho called the cyclist’s death “terribly tragic accident“.”I’m heartbroken when I think they left her there alone, saddens Stephen, Jacqueline’s older brother, to the Daily Mail. It was raining and I was worried. I expected her to come back in the evening so I left the door open and slept on the sofa. Sunday morning, I was getting impatient, but when I heard that they had found a woman in her fifties in the cemetery, I knew it was her. I called the police and they came later to tell me that they had found her dead. I collapsed.”

This Tuesday, May 31, 2022, Humberside Police and Jacqueline’s family have reached a financial settlement.
