She goes out with her friends for an open bar party, she leaves part of her hair there

A young English girl was almost burned to death in a bar in Liverpool as she posed with her friends in a photo next to a candle.

the drama was narrowly avoided. Fiona Young was almost burned to death on December 17, 2022, in a bar in north-west Liverpool, UK. The 38-year-old Englishwoman told the Daily Star have had “chance to survive”. While having a good evening with her friends, the young woman saw her hair set on fire. She got too close to a candle trying to take a picture. The mother’s red hair caught fire but she didn’t notice it right away. “In the photos you can see me leaning over to pose with my friends, but I didn’t realize there was a candle”she explains to the tabloid.

Her hair went up in smoke

Fiona Young began by smelling a strong smell of burning. That’s when she realized she was on fire. By reflex, she hit her head with her hands to put out the flames. But it was already too late, a large part of her hair had already gone up in smoke. More fear than harm, she had no other part of the body affected. “Everyone laughed at the end. We had to laugh because it could have been much worse”she relativizes before adding: “Even the DJ clapped. It could have been worse, I was really lucky to survive. A few more seconds and it would have been a different story.”

In her interview with the Daily Star, Fiona Young notes that it’s not a very good idea to put candles on the tables during open bar parties: “There are a lot of fake candles these days, maybe that’s wiser.” Taking selfies can be dangerous or even deadly. Last January in Étretat, a tourist fell to her death from the cliffs while trying to take a selfie.
