“She had time to tell him but…”: a young woman dies at the carnival in atrocious conditions

It’s a real drama that has come to mourn the carnival of the Cristal Park in Aubière, in Puy-de-Dôme. A young woman of 21 is died on a merry-go-round, Saturday, February 4. That day, the student in Clermont-Ferrand had gone to the event with her mother, her sister and her boyfriend. During the afternoon, she had decided to board the Maxximum carousela 55-meter high tower swinging the most daring up and down.

After settling on board the merry-go-round without the rest of her family, the young woman realized that she was not securebut did not have time to stop the merry-go-round. “We just know that the unfortunate had time to tell her neighbor in the nacelle that she was not attached, but it was already too late” said a police source to the Parisian. After the merry-go-round was started, the student was ejected from the attraction and made an impressive fall before falling on the booth of the showman who owned the attraction. Quickly taken care of by the emergency services, she unfortunately succumbed to his injuries around 5:30 p.m.

The circumstances of the accident are still unclear

For the moment, the reason why the young woman was not well attached is not yet known, it could be a technical failure. The police source explained: “It is still too early to know exactly what happened. Investigations are ongoing. They will be long. There are a lot of auditions to do. The accident happened at a time when there were really a lot of people there. It will be necessary to carry out in-depth technical investigations which may take several days.“.

Following the terrible tragedy, the owner of the merry-go-round was injured and hospitalized at the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital and the seven people on board the basket were taken care of by a psychological cell. A survey for manslaughter was opened by the departmental directorate of the national police of Clermont-Ferrand.
