Marvel fans are looking forward to an eventful summer – in the cinema and at home on TV. Away from the launch date, the first trailer for “She-Hulk” on Disney + now reveals even more. We finally find out what a very special guest appearance in one of last year’s Marvel blockbusters is all about.
With the first trailer for She-Hulk, Marvel and Disney+ announce the start date of the new MCU series. It starts on August 17th, in 9 episodes we experience how Jennifer Walters becomes She-Hulk. For those who don’t know yet: Walters is Bruce Banner’s cousin, i.e. the Hulk. A family relationship that is also explicitly confirmed in the trailer and therefore does not only exist in the comics.
She-Hulk on Disney+ answers the question: Where did Wong actually go last year?
Even if the trailer doesn’t reveal too much, of course, it can now answer an open question from last year. We remember, in the Marvel blockbuster Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Wong, master of the mystical powers of Kamar-Taj and well-known companion of Doctor Strange, fights against Abomination – aka Emil Blonsky, the Hulk’s first opponent. Known from the second film in the MCU – The Incredible Hulk (2008).
The first trailer of She-Hulk builds a bridge to last year’s blockbuster:
Afterwards both find themselves in the dressing room and discuss the obvious show fight in a collegial manner. Wong opens a portal and they both disappear. only where? The trailer for She-Hulk now answers this question. In it we not only see Abomination, but also Emil Blonsky in human form for the first time, portrayed as Tim Roth did 14 years ago. He is sitting in a kind of cell of a possible high-security prison, which is exactly what we see in the film scene from “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”.
So it’s clear that Wong probably didn’t take Abomination to the Sanctum Sanctorum, but to the cell that now appears in a larger context thanks to She-Hulk. What an easter egg, what a connection within the MCU.
MCU: Further release dates for the summer final
By the way: The next MCU series will start on June 8th at Disney+ – “Ms. Marvel”. Then, a month later, on July 8th, the Thunder God returns in Thor: Love and Thunder. As already mentioned, the summer will not be boring for Marvel fans.
