Zacharie, aged 32, was sentenced by the Beauvais criminal court on Friday December 8, 2023 for harassing his mother on the telephone, reported The Parisian. The young man had already been sentenced for the same reason in July 2023. After being forced to leave the family home, he was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment, three of which were suspended. The lawyer for Zacharie’s mother described the trauma experienced by his mother : “She is on the brink of collapse, living as a recluse at home. A manager of the women’s rights information center (CIDF) even contacted the prosecutor by writing to tell him that the victim was on the verge of suicide.” This attitude did not seem to alarm the manager since he continued his unwanted calls with no less than 480 phone calls and 37 SMS messages including 60 calls in one day, October 17, 2023. It is for this reason that his mother had filed a complaint again.
A son obsessed with his mother
After a difficult childhood, Zacharie was placed in a foster home at the age of 16, as our colleagues report. He has an obsession with his mother as explained by the defense lawyer, Me Cleuet: “He experiences the lack of response from his mother as a new abandonment but he is incapable of coping without her.” The young man does not seem to understand the extent of his harassment. In addition to constantly calling his mom to ask for money for groceries, he also justified these actions with worry when she didn’t respond. His arrest did not stop him since he even called his mother when he was in pre-trial detention for him “ask to hide tobacco in the hem of your pants” he explained on the stand. After this behavior, his mother came to ask for his imprisonment, as expressed by the civil party’s lawyer. “She doesn’t want money, apart from the symbolic euro, just time with incarceration to allow her to breathe,” she added, specifying that “the son became the executioner”.
