She mistakes a dog for a wolf and commits a terrible act of barbarism

In the United States, a woman shot and then skinned an animal she thought was a wolf. After posting photos on her Facebook account, she finally discovered that it was actually a Siberian husky, which had been abandoned in the woods.

A hunting party that provokes indignation. In the state of Montana, United States, Amber Barnes faced the wrath of thousands of people on Facebook after havingr proudly posted his photo shoot of the day, reports the Daily Mail.

The 36-year-old had told her friends that she had been to Flathead National Forest in search of a black bear. But on the way, she found herself face to face with an animal, which she thought was a wolf, and which she killed. “I had the opportunity to capture another predator, a small wolf. It was a great feeling to be able to message my man to tell him that I had just smoked a little wolf“, she wrote in the caption of explicit photos of the butchered animal, lying next to her in the body of his pick-up.

The downed dog had been abandoned in the woods

But quickly, indignant Internet users called out Amber Barnes to tell her that she had not shot a wolf, but rather a dog. Sheriff’s deputies have since confirmed that it was indeed a dog – a siberian husky – and that he had been abandoned in the woods, just like 11 other of his congeners. The owners have not yet been identified and it is unclear whether they will be charged. For her part, Amber Barnes has not, for the time being, neither been arrested nor charged. Police are, however, investigating whether she had a valid hunting license.

In the meantime, Amber Barnes continues to defend herself against her detractors. She said on Facebook that she would kill the same animal twice, because she claims to have acted in self-defense against an apparently angry wild animal. “Yes, I made a mistake… anyway, yes, I would have shot him anyway because he was aggressive and coming straight at me.”, she explained. Before Amber Barnes put down the animal she came across, other people had also come across some of these abandoned dogs. Recovered by authorities, these animals were cared for by veterinarians but were not available for adoption, police said.
