She peacefully breastfeeds her newborn, a “gang” of monkeys commits the irreparable

Drama unimaginablee, on June 18, 2022, in Tanzania. Monkeys stormed the garden of a house while the owner was there with her one-month-old baby in her armsreports the newspaper The Citizen. Located in the Kigoma region, the village of Mwamgongo is on the edge of the Gombe National Park which is inhabited by many wild animals, including different species of primates.

It was 3 p.m. when the child’s mother, Shayima Said, was sitting peacefully outside her home. It was meal time for her babyshe was breastfeeding. The monkeys appeared, from one second to another, without warning and took this young mother by surprise. They attacked her and ripped her baby from the breast.

The baby did not survive the monkey attack

Shocked, the mother started screaming to ask for help. “Neighbors rushed to her house to help her get her child back.“, explained the commander of the Kigoma regional police, James Manyama. the baby was imprisoned in the hands of one of the monkeys, they had to use force to root it out. But it was already too late. In the attack, “He was injured in the head and neck”lamented James Manyama, about the poor toddler who did not survive. “They managed to recover the injured baby, but unfortunately he later died in hospital”he said sadly before specifying that incidents linked to the invasion of the village by wild animals were not uncommon.
