While telling the backstage of the marriage between François Hollande and Julie Gayet – which he witnessed – Benjamin Biolay also offered an unpublished anecdote about his own past marriage with actress Chiara Mastroianni. Indeed, the couple got married in 2002 and, at the time, the artist had a request for this beautiful day but his sweetheart was opposed to it… “I am a believer. When I got married to Chiara, I would have liked us to go through the church. She didn’t want to, so I wasn’t going to bother her about it. But it’s part of my existence that I’m small“, told Benjamin Biolay to the magazine. Finally, the lovers, parents of a girl named Anna (19), divorced in 2009.
Since their breakup, Benjamin Biolay and Chiara Mastroianni have maintained excellent relations. “I stay pretty close to everyone I’ve known. When there have been very strong feelings, it does not seem at all impossible to me. With Benjamin we had a daughter together, it’s a bond for life. And then we overcame things“, had for example told the actress in the pages of Gala.
