The alleged facts are chilling. Our colleagues from South WestFriday March 15, 2024, reported that at least four families had filed a complaint for physical and psychological violence against a teacher from a nursery school in Belin-Béliet, a small town of 5,500 inhabitants about fifty kilometers south of Bordeaux, in Gironde. The prosecution confirmed that an investigation had been opened while the kindergarten teacher is suspected of slapping children and pulling their ears. A mother, whose child was allegedly a victim of this teacher, explained what he would have suffered. “It all started before the February holidays. My son came home from school complaining about his ear. His lobe was torn. He first told me that he had hurt himself, before admitting that the teacher had gotten very angry and had pulled his ear. But that it was normal, because she did it…”she declared in the columns of South West. Today, her five-year-old son refuses to go to school. He would be traumatized. “If he goes beyond a drawing, he tears it up, throws himself into phenomenal hysterics, saying that it’s rubbish and that it’s useless.”
A first alert against this teacher in 2016
Another mother confided that her daughter had told her that the teacher treated her “from nothing, from good for nothing”if she was ever wrong. “She told me that the teacher tore up the drawings but that it was normal if they were not done well. As for the rest, She doesn’t want to say anything for fear of reprisals.”, another mother was quick to tell in shock. Given the seriousness of the alleged facts, the teacher in question was “suspended as a precautionary measure during the investigation”declared the Bordeaux rectorate. “In order to support the school in this circumstance and in order to guarantee the safety and well-being of the children, an inspector and a psychologist from National Education are going to the site”, added the rectorate. The accusations against the mistress would not be new. In 2016, another mother had already filed a complaint with the rectorate after seeing her son being pushed to the ground then slammed by the teacher. The mayor of the town in which the school teacher works explained that he had been made aware of these criticisms very recently. As a reminder, the teacher remains presumed innocent of the facts with which she is accused.
