The specialized brigade of the 30 million friends Foundation discovered a house full of animals kept in deplorable conditions. The scene occurred in the Val d’Oise department and saved 58 dogs.
This very little-known psychiatric illness can wreak havoc in the animal world. The story begins in July, when the 30 million friends Foundation receives a very surprising report from a resident of Val d’Oise. According to him, a resident of his small town could suffer from Noah’s syndrome, a mental disorder that leads to accumulating animals at home without having the ability to take care of them properly. The phone call made was to about thirty dogs.
After a short investigation confirming the statements of the individual, the specialized unit of the association, called the volunteer animal brigade (BAB) made up of nearly 2,000 law enforcement personnel, decides to intervene. After several weeks of dialogue, the owners decided to leave it to the professionals. “Initially, this summer, they refused to open the door but little by little, we were able to convince them that this situation was not viable for the animals and that they are suffering from it. People are not aware of this in the case of Noah’s syndrome, they still love their animals but they are no longer able to take care of it”said Amélie, a BAB volunteer, to the newspaper Le Parisien.

But once there, the situation was even worse than imagined. Inside the house, volunteers found rooms filled with animals living in their excrement, cobwebs and dirt of all kinds. A totally unsanitary place with an unbearable smell. “It was a rather exceptional intervention in terms of abandonment, disorder, indescribable chaos in the house”underlined the 30 Million Friends Foundation.
Six hours later, the conclusion is clear: the owners of the premises agree to hand over their 58 dogs to the 30 Million Friends Foundation, who specified: “Animals were not abused per se, in the battered sense as you can often see. But there is mistreatment due in particular to the deplorable hygiene of the places in which people also lived. We are on an animal but also human drama”. Dogs will now be able to receive care while waiting to find families who can adopt them.
