Shell: anticipates +50% global demand for LNG by 2040

(CercleFinance.com) – Shell indicates that its forecasts suggest an increase of more than 50% in global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) by 2040.

Demand will be driven in particular by the industrial transition from coal to gas in China and by the development of the economies of South and South-East Asia.

Shell recalls that global LNG trade reached 404 million tonnes in 2023, compared to 397 million tonnes in 2022, and that it is expected to reach between 625 and 685 million tonnes per year in 2040, according to the latest industry estimates.
