Shell: study on floating offshore wind in Norway

(CercleFinance.com) – Equinor announces that it has launched a study in the Troll and Oseberg fields, with its partners Petoro, TotalEnergies, Shell and ConocoPhillips, in order to study the possibility of building a floating offshore wind farm approximately 65 kilometers away west of Bergen, Norway.

With an installed capacity of around ~1 GW and an annual production of ~4.3 TWh, which would start in 2027, this site, called Trollvind, could provide a large part of the electricity needed to operate the offshore Troll fields and Oseberg.

“Trollvind’s electricity could make a solid contribution to the electrification of oil and gas installations, accelerate the development of offshore wind in Norway and provide additional electricity to the Bergen region”, assures Equinor.
