What was between Shia LaBeouf and Margaret Qualley seems to be over. His dark past is said to have been decisive.

It seems like a flirtation between Shia LaBeouf (34) and Margaret Qualley (26, "The Nice Guys"). As US media unanimously report, the two actors are said to have separated. It was not until December that pictures emerged that showed the "Transformers" star and the daughter of actress Andie MacDowell (62) turtling and smooching at the Los Angeles airport.

The US magazine "People" claims to have learned from an insider who was not named that LaBeouf and Qualley were "at different points in their lives". In addition, it is said, the 26-year-old was intimidated by LaBeouf's past. Her career is too important to her to risk negative headlines because of her relationship with the actor.

No clean slate

LaBeouf faces serious allegations. His ex-girlfriend, musician FKA Twigs (32), filed a lawsuit against him in Los Angeles in early December 2020. He knowingly infected her with a sexually transmitted disease and abused her, both emotionally and physically, during their brief relationship in 2019. Musician Sia (45, "Elastic Heart") stood behind her colleague. She was also "drawn into" a fraudulent relationship by LaBeouf by claiming to be single.

What does the actor say? He shows remorse. From an email to "The New York Times" it emerges that he wants to take responsibility for his actions. "I have no excuses for my alcoholism or my aggression, just explanations," he writes. "I have abused myself and everyone around me for years. I have a past where I have hurt those who are closest to me. I am ashamed of this story and I feel sorry for those I hurt have."
