Running in the dark and in new places is much more reassuring when you wear bone conduction headphones. During CES 2024, Shokz announced its first bone conduction headset for swimmers, the OpenSwim Pro, both an MP3 player and Bluetooth. The product can therefore be used on the track, on the road and in the office.
Bluetooth technology does not work very well in water, so it is necessary to be able to charge the waterproof headphones with music beforehand. The OpenSwim Pro has a storage capacity of 32 GB. Theoretically, this capacity should allow you to store up to 8,000 songs.
Shokz integrates its eighth generation of bone conduction technology into this headset. EQ modes are available for swimming, voice boost and standard mode. Phone calls are possible through two mics and use noise cancellation, which obviously isn’t the case when you’re swimming.
The OpenSwim Pro headset is IP68 rated
The OpenSwim Pro headset is IP68 rated and can be submerged in water for two hours. Battery life is claimed to be nine hours, and fast charging allows you to listen for up to 90 minutes on just five minutes of charging, according to Shokz.
A nickel-titanium alloy frame with a soft silicone coating helps these headphones stay securely in place. The OpenSwim Pro weighs only 27 grams. Bluetooth 5.3 is provided for wireless connectivity with compatible watch, phone or tablet.
The OpenSwim Pro is expected to go on sale sometime in 2024. Pricing hasn’t been revealed, but looking at competitors, it’s likely the headset will be in the $150 price range. at around €200.
