Texas still in shock. On Tuesday evening, a teenager killed 19 children under the age of 10 and two female teachers at a primary school in the town of Uvalde. Salvador Ramos, 18, burst into a primary school armed with an assault rifle, killing 21 people, before being shot dead himself by the police.

The assailant’s grandmother also shot

Following this new killing, several questions arise about the motivations and profile of the assailant. Investigators speak of a diabolical killer who barricaded himself in a single classroom, where all the victims were shot. Before taking action, Salvador Ramos had legally bought two assault rifles and hundreds of bullets on May 17 and 20, just after his 18th birthday.

The young killer was fascinated by weapons. He had recently posted photos as a warning on social media. Salvador Ramos lived with his grandparents. An argument with his grandmother broke out a few minutes before the tragedy. Consequence: he shot him before taking his car and attacking the school.

A great emotion in the United States

The age of the victims has moved many Americans. Athletes and Hollywood stars are asking for change. Texan actor Matthew McConaughey, from the town of Uvalde, posted a text on social networks, believing that the American political class must do more to prevent these killings.

As for the senator from Connecticut, Chriss Murphy, he was very angry in front of his colleagues in Washington. “It only happens in this country. Nowhere else do little kids go to school thinking they can get shot. Nowhere else except here in the United States, and that’s our choice to let it be,” he said. US President Joe Biden is expected to visit Texas in the coming days.

A massacre announced on Facebook

This Wednesday evening, the governor of Texas announced that Salvador Ramos had on Facebook that he was going to carry out this attack and shoot his grandmother. “The third message, probably less than 15 minutes before arriving at school, said: ‘I am going to open fire in an elementary school'”, specified Greg Abbott in a press conference. The high school student, killed by the police, used an assault rifle, an extremely lethal weapon, added the governor.
