Shooting incident on film set – New charges against actor Alec Baldwin – News

  • US actor Alec Baldwin has been charged again with manslaughter. New facts have come to light.
  • The incident occurred in October 2021 during rehearsal for a film scene: When Baldwin wanted to use a weapon, a bullet was fired and fatally injured the camerawoman.
  • The charges had already been filed a year ago. However, this was dropped again in April 2023.

How a real bullet got into the Colt is still unclear. Alec Baldwin, now 65, was on the set of the western “Rust” on a ranch in Santa Fe in October 2023 when a shot went off while he was using his weapon. The camerawoman Halyna Hutchins was fatally injured. Director Joel Souza also suffered a gunshot wound.

Legend:

It was here, at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, that the fatal incident occurred on October 23, 2021.

Special investigators have continued to investigate the case in recent weeks and months and “additional facts have come to light.” Facts that, from their point of view, show that Baldwin is criminally liable.

First indictment against Baldwin

Both Baldwin and gun master Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were charged with involuntary manslaughter in January 2023. The charges against Baldwin were initially dropped in April of that year. At that time it was said that further investigations and forensic analyzes were necessary. The charges against Gutierrez-Reed remained and her trial is scheduled for 2024. Both always denied the guilt.

In interviews, Baldwin insisted that he did not pull the trigger. The investigators checked, among other things, a possible malfunction of the weapon that could have triggered it. However, a report published in August placed additional burdens on the actor. Given these findings, the trigger must have been pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the revolver’s hammer from being fully cocked or retracted.
