Israeli soldiers shoot dead three Palestinians

Israeli soldiers kill three Palestinians in a fight in the West Bank. The men were apparently armed. Since the beginning of the year, more than 90 people from both camps have lost their lives in the bloody clashes, including women and children.
According to the army, Israeli soldiers shot dead three Palestinian attackers in the occupied West Bank. The army said gunmen had previously shot at Israeli soldiers at a military post near the Jit Junction west of Nablus in the north of the West Bank. The soldiers fired back with live ammunition.
Three gunmen were “neutralized” during the exchange of fire, the army said. Another gunman turned himself in and was arrested. Soldiers were not injured. They also seized three M-16 rifles and a pistol used by the Palestinians.
No peace in sight
Violence in the Middle East conflict has been escalating for weeks, especially in the West Bank, where the Israeli army is increasingly taking action against militant Palestinians. Two Palestinians were killed in the West Bank on Friday. Israeli soldiers shot dead a 16-year-old who the army said had thrown an incendiary device at soldiers, and an Israeli settler shot dead a 21-year-old Palestinian who was said to be armed with knives and explosives in a settlement.
On Thursday, a member of the armed wing of the radical Islamist group Hamas shot and wounded three Israelis outside a café in Tel Aviv before he was shot dead himself. Shortly before, three Palestinians had been killed in an Israeli army operation in the West Bank. Several militant Palestinian groups had called for revenge on Tuesday after an Israeli army operation that killed six people.
Since the beginning of the year, 81 Palestinians have been killed in the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, including militants, but also civilians and children. Twelve civilians died on the Israeli side, including three children, as well as a policeman and a Ukrainian woman.
